Ocular Aesthetics

Ocular Aesthetics, a branch of ophthalmology, offers procedures that can be done around your eyes to give you a more supple, young and refreshed look. The services offered by this speciality are vital not only for enhanced appearance of your eyes but may also play an important role in the functioning of the eyes.

Areas that can be treated cosmetically around the eyes:

This includes the forehead lines, frown lines (area between the eyes), crow’s feet (wrinkles and fine lines that form around the outer corners of the eyes), glabella region (skin between the eyebrows and above the nose), under eye lines and bunny lines that get formed either due to age or due to repeated facial expressions.

These form either due to collection of fluid or fat in the tissue beneath the lower lid or due to increased downward pressure created by drooping eyebrows around the upper eyelids. This pressure creates a bulging pocket around the upper lid and corners of the eyes.

They are partially the result of blood pooling in the veins underneath the thin under-eye skin. These can become worse by a variety of factors, including allergies, fatigue and age to give you a tired look.

ORBITAL SURGERY

The Oculoplastic & Orbital Surgery Service at Wills Eye deals with reshaping the area in and around the eye. Oculoplastic surgery is often performed to correct or treat a medical condition or an injury. It is also done for cosmetic purposes. Oculoplastic and orbital surgery is concerned specifically with the eyelids, the orbit (the bone around the eye), and the lacrimal system (the tear duct system).

The oculoplastic and orbital surgery specialists at Drishti the vision can provide patients with reconstructive, as well as cosmetic, plastic surgery. Patients can also undergo chemical peels around the eye or on the face when combined with cosmetic eye surgery.
